Cristiano Ronaldo wants to buy Al-Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo could soon change his status at Al-Nassr. According to A Bola, as reported by several media outlets, the Portuguese star is part of a consortium of five investors seeking to acquire control of the club from the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF). Gerry Cardinale, owner of AC Milan, is also reportedly involved in the project.

Ronaldo soon to become co-owner of Al-Nassr?

Having joined Al-Nassr in January 2023 after leaving Manchester United, Ronaldo quickly established himself as the club’s leading figure. He has reportedly scored 126 goals and provided 24 assists in 149 matches in Saudi colours.

His involvement could now extend beyond the pitch. The consortium bringing together Ronaldo, Gerry Cardinale and three Saudi investors is reportedly preparing an offer to take control of Al-Nassr. Each member of the group is considering investing around $100 million.

RedBird wants to strengthen its multi-club model

For Gerry Cardinale, the operation could form part of RedBird Capital’s development strategy in football. The fund already owns AC Milan and Toulouse and is reportedly looking to extend its model to other clubs. Preliminary contacts regarding Al-Nassr had already been mentioned by Sportitalia.

The immediate issue, however, remains whether the PIF will actually agree to open up the club’s capital or relinquish control. Discussions must therefore progress further before a potential takeover can become a reality.
