Croatia: Zlatko Dalic steps down as national team coach

A chapter closes in Croatia. Zlatko Dalic has resigned as head coach of the national team.

After Croatia was knocked out in the round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup by Portugal, Zlatko Dalic has decided to leave his position as head coach. This decision comes after nearly nine years in charge of the Vatreni.

Appointed in 2017, the Croatian tactician leaves behind one of the most glorious chapters in the team's history, highlighted by a World Cup final in 2018, a third-place finish in 2022, and a Nations League final in 2023.
