Crystal Palace set astronomical price tag for Ismaïla Sarr
Galatasaray are making headway with Ismaïla Sarr, but Crystal Palace won’t negotiate for their forward for anything less than £50 million.
After a particularly prolific season with Crystal Palace, capped by a remarkable 2026 World Cup, Ismaïla Sarr has become one of the hottest topics in this closing transfer window. According to TEAMtalk, Galatasaray have submitted a contract proposal to the Senegal international. Sarr’s representatives have reportedly accepted the terms, even though there’s no agreement yet between the two clubs.
Crystal Palace demanding over £50 million
The London club’s management has set their negotiation threshold above £50 million. Intermediaries initially believed a deal could be struck at around £30 million, but the Eagles immediately deemed that sum insufficient. Manchester United, also keen on the 28-year-old’s profile, are closely monitoring the situation.
Sarr missed Palace’s opening defeat to Everton (2-0) as well as several training sessions during the week. The club insists his absence is solely due to injury and has nothing to do with Istanbul’s interest. Under contract until June 2029, the winger remains in a strong negotiating position.
An exceptional season before his World Cup
Last season, Sarr netted 21 goals and provided two assists in 45 appearances, including nine goals in 28 Premier League matches. He also finished as the top scorer in the Conference League with nine goals and was named player of the tournament. During the campaign, he even matched a historic Crystal Palace record.
The Senegal international then shone at the World Cup, scoring four goals and registering an assist, becoming Senegal’s all-time leading scorer in the competition. The Turkish transfer window closes on September 4. A move exceeding £50 million would make Sarr the second most expensive signing in Galatasaray’s history, behind Victor Osimhen, who was bought for €75 million.
