David Alaba close to joining Udinese

David Alaba is expected to find a club soon. A free agent since leaving Real Madrid, the 34-year-old Austrian defender has reached a verbal agreement with Udinese, according to Fabrizio Romano. Only the final formalities remain before the deal can be completed.

Agreement reached with Udinese

After several months without a club and with numerous options being discussed, David Alaba appears to have finally found his next destination. According to Fabrizio Romano, Udinese have reached a verbal agreement with the Austrian defender, who wants to continue his career at the highest level of European football.

However, the Italian journalist specifies that some administrative steps still need to be completed before the transfer can be considered fully finalised. The former Bayern Munich and Real Madrid player had notably been linked in recent months with Juventus and Club América.

A new challenge in Serie A

This potential move would allow Alaba to discover a third major European league after the Bundesliga and La Liga. The defender has made 298 appearances in the Bundesliga and 85 in La Liga, mainly in the colours of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. His experience would therefore be a major asset for Udinese.

However, his recent career has also been marked by numerous injuries, which considerably limited his playing time in Madrid. This was notably one of the reasons why his return to the market prompted greater caution among interested clubs. If the final formalities are completed quickly, Alaba could therefore write a new chapter of his career in Italy.
