Denmark: Christian Eriksen reassures fans after health scare

Christian Eriksen has given an update after the health scare that led to the interruption of the friendly match between Denmark and Ukraine on Sunday. In a message posted on his social networks, the 34-year-old midfielder assured everyone that he is doing well and made a point to distinguish this episode from the cardiac arrest he suffered during Euro 2021.

Christian Eriksen is on the mend. The Danish midfielder spoke out to put minds at ease.

"I want to reassure everyone: I’m fine. I’m at home, with my family," wrote Eriksen.

He did acknowledge that it was a difficult moment, but emphasized that the situation was different from what happened in the match between Denmark and Finland at Euro 2021.

According to Eriksen, his implantable cardioverter-defibrillator functioned exactly as it should.

"The defibrillator did its job perfectly: protecting me when it was needed," he explained.

The incident occurred in the 70th minute of the friendly against Ukraine. Eriksen suddenly felt a sharp pain, clutched his chest, and collapsed on the pitch. Quickly attended to by medical staff, he was able to leave the field on his own before being taken to hospital for further tests.

Soon after the match, the Danish manager had already reassured everyone about his player’s condition, describing the situation as under control.

In the coming weeks, Eriksen plans to focus on his recovery and his family.

"I will spend time with my loved ones, go on vacation, and play football with my children," he concluded, hinting he will be stepping away from the pitch for a while.
