Egypt Cup: final likely to be postponed!
The Egypt Cup final, initially set for May 20, is on the brink of being postponed. The Egyptian Football Federation is seriously considering adjusting its schedule due to exceptional circumstances.
According to several local media outlets, the much-anticipated clash between Zamalek SC and Pyramids FC will likely not occur on the planned date. The new date being discussed is around June 5 or 6. The reason: Pyramids FC's involvement in the CAF Champions League final, a historic first for the club.
An official decision awaited
Teammates of Fiston Mayele, hero against Orlando Pirates in the semi-final, will face the formidable Mamelodi Sundowns in a two-legged tie: the first leg is set for May 24, with the return on June 1. This packed schedule seriously complicates the preparation for Pyramids FC, the current leader of the Egyptian league.
In light of this situation, the Federation wishes to give Krunoslav Jurcic's Blues every chance to shine on the continental stage by postponing the national final against Zamalek's White Knights. An official decision is expected in the coming days.
