Kaizer Chiefs winger Faiz Abrahams has reacted to his debut for the club in their frustrating 2-2 draw with Richards Bay in the Betway Premiership on Wednesday night.

The 21-year-old attacker was signed on a season-long loan from Stellenbosch FC, with the deal including a clause to make the player's stay at Naturena permanent.

He was introduced as a second half substitute against the Natal Rich Boys, replacing Mfundo Vilakazi in the 66th minute, and immediately caught the eye with numerous crosses into the box.

Abrahams expressed delight with his cameo on the night, revealing head coach Fernando da Cruz gave him a remit to try help the Glamour Boys expunge the 2-1 deficit at the time.

“It was my first time travelling with Kaizer Chiefs. It felt good to be included and I appreciate the coach's belief in me. I have worked hard since I arrived and I am grateful for the support I have received and honoured to be playing for this great club,” he told the Chiefs media department.

"The coach told me to go out there and create chances for us to get back into the game. I think I made a few opportunities that we might have scored from, so I am quite happy with how I did.

"We played well enough to win the game but we had a couple of misfortunes which we will definitely work on cutting out going forward. The conditions made things a bit difficult.

"It was windy as well which made controlling the slippery ball difficult but overall, I think the guys coped well in the circumstances.

The Stellies loanee is eager to pick up from where he left off and up the ante, noting that consistency is imperative at the top level, as he looks to secure a permanent contract at Chiefs.

“I'm just going to keep working as hard as I can in order to maintain a high standard week in, week out. Consistency is the most important thing. You have to be at your best every time you set foot on the field,” Abrahams added.

Chiefs, meanwhile, swing back to Betway Premiership action with a clash against Siwelele FC at Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday, 06 September, aiming to return to winning ways.
