FC Barcelona: a Lamine Yamal 'like' reignites Julián Álvarez rumors

While Deco is working to unlock negotiations in Madrid, Lamine Yamal has sent another strong signal in favor of Julián Álvarez joining Barcelona.

The FC Barcelona dressing room continues to campaign for Julián Álvarez. After Pedri and Gavi, Lamine Yamal has now shown his own interest in bringing the Argentine striker to Catalonia.

The Blaugrana number 10 liked two Instagram posts from Sport and Jijantes dedicated to Barça’s pursuit of Álvarez. This interaction did not go unnoticed given the massive media reach of the 19-year-old.

A message to more than 58 million followers

Lamine Yamal now boasts over 58 million followers on Instagram. In this context, his every move is monitored and can quickly amplify any transfer rumor.

His support for the operation is not new. The World Cup winner had already publicly welcomed the idea of Julián Álvarez joining Barcelona, stating that the former Manchester City player has all the qualities needed to succeed at Barça.

Yamal’s recent “like” is, of course, not proof of an agreement. Nonetheless, it confirms that the Argentine enjoys significant backing within the Catalan dressing room, with several key players reportedly in favor of his signing.

Deco working to unlock the transfer

The Barcelona board is reportedly preparing a new offensive. Deco has traveled to Madrid to meet with Fernando Hidalgo, Julián Álvarez’s agent, as well as various intermediaries involved in the deal. The goal is to define a strategy that might convince Atlético Madrid to officially open negotiations.

Barça is said to have already tabled an offer in the region of €100 million, but this initial bid was reportedly rejected. Under contract until 2030 and protected by a €500 million release clause, Álvarez is still considered untouchable by the Madrid club’s hierarchy.

Barcelona is now considering improving its offer. However, there is currently no agreement between the two clubs, and Atlético refuses, for now, to strengthen a direct rival in La Liga.

Yamal set to return to Barça after his vacation

Lamine Yamal is currently enjoying his holiday after winning the 2026 World Cup with Spain. La Roja defeated Julián Álvarez’s Argentina in the final, clinching a 1-0 victory after extra time.

After several days of rest in Colombia, the young winger is continuing with individual training before joining up with Hansi Flick. He is scheduled to return to Barça from August 12, following the 21-day break granted to Spain’s internationals.

Julián Álvarez, meanwhile, is vacationing in Ibiza and is expected back at Atlético training on August 10. That gives Barça a few days to try to close the gap and attempt to prevent his return to Madrid from putting the deal on hold.
