Barça: Julián Álvarez's agents spring into action!
Still held back by Atlético, Julián Álvarez is reportedly relying on his agents to work out a new negotiation strategy with Barça.
This could be a decisive week for Julián Álvarez. Despite his desire to leave Atlético de Madrid, the 26-year-old striker remains stuck by his club’s management. The latter are still refusing to let him join FC Barcelona, whom they view as a direct rival in the race for domestic titles.

A decisive meeting in Barcelona
According to El Desmarque, the representatives of the Argentine international are due to travel to Barcelona this week to meet with the Blaugrana management. Both sides are looking to define a new strategy to break the deadlock that has stalled the deal.
The talks are expected to focus in particular on the structure of a potential offer and the arguments that could sway the Colchoneros’ stance. Under contract until 2030, Álvarez remains one of Atlético’s key assets. The Madrid club has no intention of selling him cheaply or of directly strengthening Barça.
Laporta’s ultimatum has expired
This meeting comes as the deadline set by Joan Laporta for the Julián Álvarez deal has now passed. The Catalan president had warned that his club would not wait beyond July 31. Despite this expired ultimatum, Barça does not appear to have definitively given up on the Argentinian.
However, Barcelona’s room for manoeuvre remains extremely limited due to the ongoing conflict between the two clubs. Atlético had announced an official complaint against Barça regarding the Julián Álvarez transfer, accusing them of approaching and influencing a player under contract without permission.
An investigation was subsequently opened by the Spanish Football Federation. All parties will be able to present their arguments before any decision is made. In this tense context, the trip by Álvarez’s agents looks like a last-ditch attempt to revive his move to Catalonia.
