This Sunday afternoon, Real Sociedad host Rayo Vallecano at the Reale Arena in San Sebastián in the 12th round of LaLiga.

Pellegrino Matarazzo’s side sit fifth in LaLiga and head into this match after a mixed run of results. Sociedad have plenty of attacking quality. Their emphatic 6-0 win over Lillestroem in the Europa League and 5-2 victory at Málaga in LaLiga confirm that the team can be formidable when they get going.

Meanwhile, Rayo Vallecano arrive in 12th place and need points. Beñat San José’s side have shown they know how to get results, notably beating Celta Vigo 3-0 in their last LaLiga outing. This match therefore looks set to be more competitive than the standings alone might suggest. Rayo are not travelling to San Sebastián just to make up the numbers.

The official lineups

Here are the announced starting lineups for the match. Senegal international Pathé Ciss starts in Rayo’s XI.
