CF Montréal: Prince Owusu wins an award
Prince Owusu continues to lead CF Montréal on an individual level. Despite a particularly difficult season for the team, the 29-year-old striker has been voted the club’s best player for the second year in a row.
Another productive season for Owusu
The Giuseppe-Saputo Trophy once again recognizes the Ghana international’s performances. In 2026, Prince Owusu scored 18 goals and provided 6 assists in all competitions. He has now scored 35 goals over the past two seasons with Montréal: 17 in 2025 and 18 in 2026.
He also joins Ignacio Piatti and Didier Drogba among the club’s players to have scored at least ten goals in two consecutive seasons. It is an important recognition for a player who made his Ghana debut in November 2025.
An individual award amid a difficult season
Owusu’s award comes as CF Montréal have just finished a very disappointing season. The club ended its MLS campaign with a 2-0 defeat to the Vancouver Whitecaps. With 26 points, Montréal recorded the worst season in its history in the competition, falling below its previous low of 28 points.
After that final match, Owusu spoke in particular about some of his young teammates’ lack of experience and the mental pressure caused by the accumulation of poor results. While CF Montréal’s overall record remains marked by difficulties, Prince Owusu can take comfort in another productive season of his own, capped by a second consecutive award.
