Senegal: First call-up for Massiré Sylla with the Lions of Teranga (Official)
Massiré Sylla will make his debut for Senegal’s senior national team during the November international break. The young defender was called up by head coach Patrick Vieira on Sunday.
Massiré Sylla joins the squad to replace Mamadou Sarr, who has a left calf injury. The Senegalese Football Federation announced the news on its X account. The 21-year-old defender’s call-up comes after Mamadou Sarr withdrew.
The defender, on loan from Chelsea to Real Sociedad, injured his left calf on Thursday during the Europa League match against Olympique Lyonnais (1-1). The injury rules him out of the Lions’ next two matches against Sudan, scheduled for November 12 and 16, in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Massiré Sylla, the 12th new face in two camps
With Massiré Sylla’s call-up, the Senegalese coach has now called up his 12th player to make his first appearance in the squad since Patrick Vieira took charge. Ngagne Demba Thiam (Monza), Mamour Ndiaye (Saint-Etienne), Malang Sarr (Neom), Sadibou Sané (Monaco), Arouna Sanganté (Seville), Lamine Sy (Auxerre), Issa Soumaré (Rennes) and Pape Moussa Fall (Metz) had enjoyed that experience at the previous camp, followed this week by Pathé Mboup (Brest), Clayton Diandy (Al-Diriyah) and Paul Mendy (Cagliari), who were named in the initial squad.
