Egypt captain Mohamed Salah returned to the scoresheet on Sunday 8 November 2026 scoring his ninth Turkish Süper Lig goal of the season as Trabzonspor defeated Alanyaspor 2-0 away from home.

The 34 year old doubled his team's advantage in the 34th minute, following Wagner Pina's opener in the 17th helping Thomas Reis' side collect three valuable points.

Salah's goal ended a three match scoring drought and took his overall tally to 11 goals and five assists in 16 appearances across all competitions this season.

The victory lifted Trabzonspor to second place with 25 points, three behind leaders Galatasaray.

Mohamed Salah scores after brilliant combination with Paul Onuachu

Trabzonspor took the lead when Nigerian defender Chibuike Nwaiwu delivered a long pass behind Alanyaspor's defence allowing Cape Verde international Wagner Pina to finish in the 17th minute.

Seventeen minutes later, Salah produced the moment that effectively secured the victory.

Following an attacking combination involving Ernest Muci and Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu, the Egyptian collected the ball inside the penalty area, beat defender Nuno Lima and fired a precise left footed shot into the far corner.

Onuachu was credited with the assist, highlighting the growing understanding between Trabzonspor's African attacking stars.

The partnership had already attracted attention following Salah's arrival in Turkey and his potential impact on Onuachu.

Salah also came close to scoring again during the second half, narrowly missing the target with an effort from outside the penalty area.

He was eventually replaced by Metehan Mimaroglu in the 89th minute.

Salah joins Osimhen in Turkish Golden Boot race

The goal moved Salah to nine league goals in 11 appearances, level with Galatasaray's Nigerian international Victor Osimhen.

Both African stars sit one goal behind the competition's leading scorer, Nigerian forward Gift Orban who has scored ten.

Salah had previously found the net against Hearts in the UEFA Conference League on 22 October, a performance that Foot Africa highlighted after he reached double figures for the season.

However, he failed to score in his following three matches against Rizespor, Gaziantep and Freiburg.

His return to goalscoring form therefore provides a timely boost for Trabzonspor, particularly after their recent European defeat against Freiburg.

The Egyptian's influence also extends beyond his finishing, having contributed five assists across all competitions.

Trabzonspor maintain pressure on Galatasaray

Alanyaspor attempted to respond during the closing stages but Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana produced an important save in the 85th minute to preserve Trabzonspor's clean sheet.

The hosts also struck the post during stoppage time but Reis' side maintained their two goal advantage.

The result secured Trabzonspor's sixth consecutive league victory and strengthened their position near the top of the table.
