FC Barcelona: criticised for arrogance, Lamine Yamal does not understand

In his latest interview, Lamine Yamal responded to the criticism over his alleged arrogance.

Although he has always appeared self-confident from a very young age, Lamine Yamal (19, 7 appearances and 7 goals in La Liga this season) has very often been labelled arrogant by his detractors. Faced with these accusations, the FC Barcelona winger struggles to understand them. The player simply considers himself to be "sincere" in what he says and in the way he behaves.

"I think the people who say that are still having fun with me. In the end, football is a sport made for enjoyment. When there is a press conference, I like listening to people who speak from the heart, express themselves sincerely and make me laugh. It's not so much arrogance; it's saying what I think, always, and saying it naturally. So, inevitably, people are wrong to label me that way," the Blaugrana prodigy told L'Équipe in an interview.

He also added: "I'm just trying to be as natural as possible. I feel that people aren't used to someone responding sincerely. Perhaps some people want to hear something positive, to be told: 'Everything is fine.' And I always try to tell the truth."
