FC Barcelona: Dani Olmo set to be rewarded with a salary increase

Dani Olmo is about to see his efforts rewarded. The Spanish attacking midfielder will receive an improved contract as early as this summer, in line with the agreement made when he signed with the Catalan club.

FC Barcelona is preparing to honor a commitment made to Dani Olmo when he joined from RB Leipzig in 2024. According to several sources, the 28-year-old will benefit from a scheduled salary increase starting from the third season of his contract.

This raise is not a result of Olmo's recent performances, but rather stems from an agreement negotiated at the time of his recruitment. At that time, Barça was going through a complicated financial period and had to comply with the strict constraints of financial fair play.

Sacrifices made to join Barça

To secure his return to Catalonia, Dani Olmo agreed to several concessions. The Spanish international notably turned down more lucrative offers from other clubs and accepted a salary lower than his initial expectations.

These efforts also made it easier for him to be registered with the relevant authorities, allowing FC Barcelona to remain compliant with regulatory requirements regarding their wage bill.

Recognition of his status within the squad

The upcoming pay rise aims to align Dani Olmo’s salary with his importance in the Blaugrana squad. It is also intended to compensate for the financial sacrifices he made during his first two seasons at the club.

With this decision, the Barcelona management intends to keep its word and show appreciation to a player who chose to wear the Barça colors over more financially attractive offers.
