FC Barcelona: Fermin Lopez raves about Rodri

With the official announcement of Rodri's transfer to FC Barcelona from Manchester City on the horizon, Fermin Lopez is already looking forward to teaming up with his Spanish national teammate.

Rodri is expected to be unveiled as FC Barcelona's newest signing this Tuesday. Speaking highly of the man to whom he handed over his No. 16 shirt, Fermin Lopez couldn't hide his excitement for the best player of the 2026 World Cup.

"Rodri is a great player. We're talking about a Ballon d'Or winner and a world champion. I play with him for Spain and, for me, he's the best defensive midfielder in the world. (...) I was a bit sad to give up my No. 16 because it meant a lot to me, but I'm sure it's in good hands! As for me, I'll take No. 7, which I've always loved because some of the greatest players in Barça's history have worn it. When it became available, I asked for it and I'm very happy to wear it," said the young midfielder in an interview with Diari ARA.
