FC Barcelona: Hansi Flick is preparing a major change

At the start of the 2026-2027 LaLiga season, Hansi Flick is set to make a significant change in his use of Eric García.

Spotted training at right-back since his return from the 2026 World Cup, the Spaniard is now clearly being considered as a primary option for this position, according to reports from Sport. This decision follows the path Flick took during the last Clásico, when he started García against Real Madrid despite having Jules Koundé available.

In the eyes of the German coach, the defender's versatility and technical skills make him the perfect fit for this new role. Eric García is coming off a particularly intense season, making 51 appearances, including 11 as a right-back.

This tactical reshuffle could shake up the pecking order, especially for Jules Koundé, whose starting spot is now under threat. The French international defender, long considered untouchable both for Barça and the French national team, could be on his way out of Catalonia, particularly as Barça are seriously considering his departure.
