FC Barcelona: "I am where I wanted to be," João Cancelo
After two loan spells in Catalonia over the past three seasons, João Cancelo is finally set to make his permanent move to FC Barcelona this summer.
Having terminated his contract with Al-Hilal, where he had one year remaining, the Portuguese full-back arrived in Catalonia as a free agent this Monday. To secure his exit from the Saudi club, the Portuguese international João Cancelo pushed his management to release him, taking advantage of the surplus of foreign players in Simone Inzaghi’s squad.

Indeed, upon his arrival in Barcelona just a few hours ago, João Cancelo expressed his immense pride in joining Barça. "I am very happy, delighted to be here, I am where I wanted to be. I trained separately for a week. I told Deco that either I come here, or I would spend a year over there without playing, even while being paid. I gave up part of my salary, but it was either sign for Barça or nothing. This is a very special club, I’m here to help and I hope to win many titles. We are building a great team." he said.
