FC Barcelona: João Cancelo, Al-Hilal clarifies

In recent days, the João Cancelo saga has taken a new turn following rumors of possible tension between the Portuguese full-back and Al-Hilal.

While several reports indicated that João Cancelo was absent without authorization during the pre-season camp in Austria, Al-Hilal was quick to set the record straight. The Riyadh-based side confirmed that the Portuguese defender's absence was agreed upon with the player and that no disciplinary action was being considered.

According to sources close to the club, Al-Hilal had communicated the return dates to all its internationals, and João Cancelo's case was handled with special arrangements. The Portuguese star also took to social media to deny, in his own way, rumors of a potential sanction.
