FC Barcelona: Mason Greenwood was indeed on their radar
Before opting for Turkey, Mason Greenwood reportedly caught Barça’s eye, impressing with his performances for Marseille and Getafe.
FC Barcelona had considered signing Mason Greenwood prior to his departure from Olympique de Marseille. According to the Catalan daily Sport, the English striker was among the profiles studied by the club’s management to bolster an attacking line set for changes during this summer transfer window.
His output in a Marseille shirt was certainly eye-catching. Greenwood ended last season with 26 goals and 11 assists in 45 appearances, having reignited his career in Spain with Getafe. However, Barça never converted their interest into concrete negotiations, ultimately opting for other targets.
