FC Barcelona have a clearer idea of when Eric García could return. Forced to leave Spain’s national-team camp early due to discomfort in his left knee, the 25-year-old defender should be able to recover during the international break. According to Catalunya Ràdio, he could be available for the Blaugrana’s next match.

More fear than harm for Eric García

Eric García returned to Barcelona after feeling persistent pain in his left knee. The problem had been troubling him for several weeks, but the situation worsened before the Nations League match against England. The defender even reportedly had to cut short his warm-up because of the pain.

Following the initial examinations, the medical staff of the Spanish national team decided to send him back to his club so that he could undergo further tests and begin his recovery. However, additional examinations reportedly revealed no major injury. Only swelling was detected, raising hopes of a swift return to action.

Return being considered against Getafe

According to Catalunya Ràdio, Hansi Flick could count on Eric García for the home match against Getafe, scheduled for October 10. The international break should allow him to recover gradually ahead of that date. The defender has established himself as an important part of Barcelona’s system this season. His return would therefore be significant news for Hansi Flick, who could hope to welcome back a versatile player for the remainder of the season.

After Getafe, the Catalans will notably travel to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on October 20, before playing the Clasico against Real Madrid at Camp Nou on October 25. In La Liga, Barça have won their first seven matches. They are five points ahead of Atlético de Madrid and six ahead of Real Madrid.
