FC Barcelona: the exit door may soon open for Frenkie de Jong
At FC Barcelona, things have gotten complicated for Frenkie de Jong since his injury following the 2026 World Cup with the Netherlands.
Before the start of the LaLiga season, Frenkie de Jong was already frustrated by losing the captain's armband. The Dutch midfielder is also going through a tough spell on the pitch with his knee injury and his decision to opt for conservative treatment, despite the club's preference for surgery. On top of that, the competition in midfield has intensified with Rodri's arrival, Marc Bernal's rise, and the emergence of Xavi Espart.
According to SPORT, this situation could reignite the question of Frenkie de Jong's future in this summer transfer window. Juventus are reportedly monitoring the situation closely, and a deal similar to the one used for Ronald Araujo—a loan with an option to buy—could be considered.
Letting Frenkie de Jong go would also significantly ease Barça’s wage bill and give them more financial leeway to sign a new striker.
