Just hours before the Champions League clash against Galatasaray, FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta praised Hansi Flick’s men for their blistering start to the season.

FC Barcelona have been impressive at the start of the season. In La Liga, the Catalan side are top of the table with eight wins from as many matches. They have already opened up a six-point gap over Real Madrid.

On Tuesday evening, in the Champions League, Flick’s men face Galatasaray. They made a perfect start to their European campaign with a 5-1 victory over Feyenoord and sit third in the overall standings.

Laporta is already talking big

Ahead of tonight’s clash, the Spanish side’s president made a bold statement based on the Catalans’ results. “I think we play the best football in Europe and, consequently, the best in the world. Other teams that are also performing very well, such as PSG and Bayern Munich, are candidates to win the competitions in which we participate. And there is always a team that springs a surprise, and we must take that into account. But in terms of footballing quality, I think that, let’s say, for now, we are the ones playing the best. And on top of that, we play better and put on a great show. This allows the supporters, and above all, of course, our fans, to have a good time. Our football is entertaining, I like that,” he said, in comments reported by Marca.
