Good news for Fenerbahçe. Injured on 22 August during the victory over Konyaspor (4-2), Marco Asensio is expected to return to the squad for the match against Eyüpspor, scheduled for 20 September 2026.

Asensio will gradually rejoin the team

Since sustaining his injury, the Spain international had been following a treatment programme established by the club’s medical staff. At the same time, he continued individual work to gradually regain his physical condition.

The examinations and assessments carried out on 16 September revealed no obstacles to his return to the squad. Marco Asensio is therefore expected to take part in some of the team sessions on 17 and 18 September, while continuing his individual work.

A return scheduled before Eyüpspor

Fenerbahçe’s schedule then calls for full participation in team training on 19 September. If this stage goes as planned, Marco Asensio will indeed be included in the squad to face Eyüpspor on Sunday in the Super Lig.

This return above all represents an important step in the management of the Fenerbahçe squad. The club is not rushing Asensio’s comeback: the player is gradually reintegrating with the team before returning to the matchday squad. His presence against Eyüpspor therefore does not necessarily mean that he will immediately be at 100% of his capacity, but it does mark the end of a period of unavailability that was beginning to stretch on.
