Feyenoord: Anis Hadj Moussa impresses Cesc Fàbregas
Anis Hadj Moussa once again made his mark in the Champions League, prompting Cesc Fàbregas to praise his talent.
Anis Hadj Moussa continues to make a name for himself on the European stage. Starting on Wednesday evening in Feyenoord’s 3-2 Champions League victory over Como (3-2), the Algerian international was once again one of the main architects of the Dutch side’s success.
The 24-year-old winger scored Feyenoord’s second goal after cutting inside before finishing with a shot into the tight angle. He was then directly involved in the build-up to the third goal before being named man of the match. Another decisive performance that confirms his excellent current form.
Fàbregas: “Anis Hadj Moussa is an exceptional player”
After the game, Cesc Fàbregas did not look for excuses to explain Como’s defeat. The former Barcelona and Arsenal midfielder acknowledged Feyenoord’s superiority while highlighting the difference a player like Hadj Moussa can make.
“They are a very good team that know how to play very well. We have the same ideas. I think they were simply better than us today. Playing at home or away in the Champions League is different. We saw it when they played in Barcelona, and you saw it when we beat Leipzig 4-1, who are a strong team: the energy from the supporters gives you something special, and they knew how to use it tonight.”
The Spanish coach was even more specific when discussing the Algerian international:
“They dominated, then we recovered. In the second half, they were much better. We had the same chances as them. Anis Hadj Moussa is an exceptional player and, at the moment, we do not have that kind of player capable of making the difference in this type of match the way he does.”
Hadj Moussa confirms his exceptional form
This European performance continues a particularly successful start to the season. In the Eredivisie, Hadj Moussa already has 5 goals and 1 assist in 7 matches. He also scored four goals in just two games in September, earning him the Eredivisie Player of the Month award.
After a turbulent summer and a transfer to Al-Ittihad that ultimately fell through, the Algerian winger appears to have completely moved on. His performances now speak for themselves, and Cesc Fàbregas’s emphatic praise further reinforces the impression made by a player capable of making the difference at the highest level.
