FIFA: Gianni Infantino, Qatar lashes out at the AFC
The saga surrounding FIFA president Gianni Infantino just won't end. In Asia, football federations are at odds.
Criticism of Gianni Infantino is fueling tensions within Asian football itself. Just days after the AFC took a stance against the FIFA president, the Qatari Football Association has challenged the approach taken by the continental body. Qatar specifically reproaches the AFC for expressing a position on behalf of all its members without prior consultation.
"This is not about personalities, nor about whether federations agree or disagree with the content of a particular position. It is about ensuring that the voices of member federations are properly heard when Asian football speaks collectively," the QFA stated in a press release.

The Qatari federation is therefore calling for greater consultation within the AFC, while stressing its commitment to preserving "the unity and credibility of Asian football."
