FIFA: International coalition of supporters calls for Gianni Infantino's departure
Gianni Infantino is making headlines again! This time, it's not a single country's federation.
Indeed, an international coalition of supporters' associations launched a petition this Thursday. In it, the coalition demands that Gianni Infantino step down as FIFA president. Among the signatory organizations are Football Supporters Europe, the National Association of Supporters, and the Irrésistibles Français. The movement is not only calling for the president’s resignation, but also for a sweeping overhaul of FIFA’s internal operations.

In its official statement, this international coalition of supporters’ associations criticized FIFA’s governance for being too disconnected from those who keep football alive. “A single man seems to believe he is more important than football itself,” they wrote about Gianni Infantino.
The coalition is now demanding formal involvement of supporters and other football stakeholders in making decisions about the future of the sport—aiming to have a stronger voice in the governance of the world’s football governing body.
