FIFA: Nasser Al-Khelaïfi definitively rules out presidency

In his latest remarks, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi once again stated that he had no intention of running for the FIFA presidency.

Although his name has been mentioned among the executives who could stand against Gianni Infantino in the next election, the president of Paris Saint-Germain categorically ruled out that possibility. Asked during the general assembly of European football clubs in Denmark, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi was very clear. “I have absolutely no interest in FIFA, no ambition to sit on it. I don’t think I’m the person they need and, in reality, I don’t want to go there,” he said, in comments reported by Le Parisien.

The PSG executive said he would prefer to continue in his current role rather than enter the race for the presidency of world football’s governing body. “I enjoy what I do and I’m having a good time. We want to continue building positive projects together. FIFA is not for me,” the Qatari insisted. With the election scheduled for March just a few months away, Gianni Infantino remains, for now, the only declared candidate to succeed himself.
