FIFA ranking: DR Congo's impressive surge
Freshly qualified for the 2026 World Cup, the Congolese national team has made a remarkable leap in the FIFA rankings, published Wednesday by the world football governing body.
During this March international break, the Leopards first defeated Bermuda 2-0 in a friendly, then clinched a narrow win over Jamaica in the final of the intercontinental play-offs.
Official: FIFA unveils its new rankings after AFCON 2025
Thanks to this strong showing, DR Congo climbed two spots in the FIFA rankings to reach 46th place, up from 48th.

Moreover, the two-time AFCON champions now sit 9th among African nations, trailing Morocco, Senegal, Nigeria, Algeria, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Tunisia, and Cameroon.
For the record, DR Congo's best-ever position in the FIFA rankings was achieved in 2017, when they climbed as high as 28th thanks to outstanding results in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
