FIFA ranking: the new world top 10! (Official)

Spain retain top spot in the FIFA ranking, while Portugal climb two places and Morocco drop to seventh.

FIFA published its latest update of the men’s world ranking this Wednesday, 7 October 2026. Spain remain firmly in first place with 2011.57 points, ahead of Argentina, second with 1972.80 points, and France, third with 1958.86 points.

This new ranking takes into account the matches played during the latest international window. Spain had already reclaimed top spot after winning the 2026 World Cup and therefore retain their position after their 2-1 victory over Croatia.

Portugal climb two places and overtake Brazil

The biggest rise near the top of the table belongs to Portugal. The Seleção climb two places to fifth with 1807.69 points. They therefore move ahead of Brazil, who drop one place to sixth with 1806.51 points.

England, for their part, retain fourth place with 1925.59 points. Behind the Portugal-Brazil duo, the gap is minimal and promises several more changes during the next international window.

Morocco drop to seventh place

Morocco also drop one place and now occupy 7th place in the world with 1805.34 points. The Atlas Lions nevertheless remain the highest-ranked African national team and stay in direct contention with Brazil and Portugal.

Belgium retain eighth place with 1779.17 points, just ahead of the Netherlands (1778.61). Mexico complete the top 10 with 1738.48 points.

  2. Argentina - 1972.80 points
  3. France - 1958.86 points
  4. England - 1925.59 points
  5. Portugal - 1807.69 points (+2)
  6. Brazil - 1806.51 points (-1)
  7. Morocco - 1805.34 points (-1)
  8. Belgium - 1779.17 points
  9. Netherlands - 1778.61 points
  10. Mexico - 1738.48 points

The next FIFA ranking is expected on 18 November

According to FIFA’s official calendar, the next update of the men’s world ranking will be published on 18 November 2026, after the next international window. The results recorded during that break could therefore still significantly alter the hierarchy, particularly in a very tight section between Portugal, Brazil and Morocco.
