Football / Ligue 1 LONACI: ASEC and SOA held, FC San Pedro strike hard in Korhogo

The 2nd matchday of the Ligue 1 LONACI got underway this weekend with three matches on the schedule. While ASEC Mimosas and AFAD du Plateau were held to draws, FC San Pedro secured the best result by winning in Korhogo.

After losing to promoted side Yamoussoukro FC (0-1) on the opening matchday, ASEC Mimosas were already under pressure. The Yellow and Blacks hosted Stella Club d’Adjamé at the Ebimpé Stadium, aiming to claim their first win of the season.

But against the Magnans of Adjamé, Mimosas never managed to make the difference. In a closely contested match, the two teams cancelled each other out over the 90 minutes. Despite several attempts and changes made in the second half, the score remained goalless.

SOA and AFAD play out a draw

At the Bingerville Sports Complex, AFAD du Plateau faced the Société Omnisports de l’Armée (SOA) in a fiercely contested match.

The military side quickly took the lead. In the 10th minute, Idriss Traoré found the back of the net to put SOA ahead.

Trailing, AFAD responded by increasing the pressure. Their efforts finally paid off just before halftime. In the 41st minute, Kacou Stéphane brought the two teams level.

After the break, the pace remained high, but neither side managed to gain the upper hand. The attackers were wasteful with their final touches.

FC San Pedro strike hard in Korhogo

The best result of this opening part of the 2nd matchday goes to FC San Pedro.

Travelling to the Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium in Korhogo to face UST, the visitors from southern Côte d’Ivoire quickly took control of the match.

Koffi Wilfried opened the scoring in the 8th minute before Karamoko Alpha doubled the lead just two minutes later, in the 10th minute.

With these two quick goals, FC San Pedro secured a convincing 2-0 victory, thereby confirming their ambitions in this new Ligue 1 LONACI season.

After these first three matches, the 2nd matchday of Ligue 1 LONACI will continue with several fixtures.
