Didier Deschamps plans to take a break after leaving the France national team. After 14 years in charge of Les Bleus, the French coach wants to take a step back before considering a new project.

Didier Deschamps left his position as manager of the France national team this summer, after leading Les Bleus for 14 years. According to L’Équipe, the 57-year-old coach does not wish to return to professional activity immediately. He plans to stay away from the dugout for at least a year. This decision comes as several possibilities had been mentioned for the next stage of his career.

Since announcing his departure from the France national team, Deschamps’ name has notably been linked with the Italy national team, Real Madrid and several Saudi Arabian clubs. Nevertheless, the French coach does not appear to be in a hurry to return to a position.

A return planned after this break

Deschamps has not ruled out returning to coaching in the future. He remains open to different types of projects, including the possibility of taking charge of a national team again.

After 14 years devoted to the France national team, Didier Deschamps therefore wants to make the most of a period of rest before considering what comes next. His future could thus be on the bench of a club or at the helm of another national team, but no decision is expected to be made immediately.
