The FIFA president loses another heavyweight. The French Football Federation is now opposed to Gianni Infantino.

It has been more than two weeks since the crisis erupted at FIFA following the failed launch of the FIFA Forward Enterprise project by Gianni Infantino. Since then, the backlash against the global governing body has only grown louder. Several confederations, including UEFA, as well as some nations, have unanimously threatened to boycott the World Cup if the project goes ahead at the end of July.

Up until now, the French Football Federation had remained silent, just like other countries such as Italy and even Spain. However, according to information from L’Équipe, the FFF is not expected to support Gianni Infantino. Philippe Diallo will not vote in favor of the Swiss-Italian president as things stand, even though it's difficult to know the French body's definitive position while potential candidates for the next FIFA presidential elections have yet to be announced.

The FFF president wants to wait for the next executive committee meeting, scheduled for September 8, to discuss the issue with other members of the French football governing body, so as not to appear to be acting alone. For now, the French women's U20 team is still set to participate in the U20 Women's World Cup, which kicks off on September 5.
