France: Zinédine Zidane to succeed Didier Deschamps after the 2026 World Cup

The French Football Federation is set to officially announce Zinédine Zidane as the new manager of Les Bleus following the 2026 World Cup.

After turning down every club offer over the last eight months, Zidane had just one goal: to take charge of the French national team. His arrival will mark the end of the Didier Deschamps era, who has been in the role since 2012.

Deschamps' tenure will conclude after the World Cup third-place play-off, bringing to a close fourteen years at the helm of Les Bleus, highlighted by the triumph at the 2018 World Cup.

A World Cup winner (1998) and European champion (2000) as a player, then a three-time consecutive Champions League winner as Real Madrid manager, Zinédine Zidane's main mission will be to lead France to another major trophy, with Euro 2028 as his first major target.
