Galatasaray preparing Osimhen’s return ahead of Barça clash
Galatasaray is doing everything possible to enable its Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen to return to competition in time to face FC Barcelona on October 13 on matchday two of the 2026-2027 Champions League league phase.
After more than a month out, Osimhen gradually returned to training following the injury he suffered against Başakşehir on September 4.
The Nigerian striker took part in part of Wednesday’s team training session after missing Nigeria’s latest international break. His presence against Barça nevertheless remains uncertain.
Can Osimhen be ready for Barça?
Galatasaray’s medical staff does not want to take any risks with its striker, whose injury had caused significant bleeding in the muscle.
The club doctor indicated that Osimhen’s condition was improving. Galatasaray will nevertheless wait for the results of the next medical examinations before making a decision regarding his return to competition.
The Turkish club also plans to test Osimhen in Friday’s match against Kasımpaşa by giving him a few minutes of playing time. The encounter should enable the technical staff to assess his physical condition before the clash against Barça.
With six goals in the Turkish league this season, Osimhen currently sits third in the scoring charts. He is behind Mohamed Salah and Gift Orban, who have each scored seven goals.
