Germany: RB Leipzig signs Ota Yamamoto
RB Leipzig officially announced on Tuesday the signing of young Japanese attacking midfielder Ota Yamamoto. He joins the German club from Kashiwa Reysol, penning a contract until 2031.
Ota Yamamoto is now a RB Leipzig player. After a standout season on loan at RB Ōmiya Ardija, where he made 19 appearances in 2026, Yamamoto impressed with ten goals and three assists, confirming his attacking potential. To support his ongoing development and ensure regular playing time, RB Leipzig has decided to loan him straight back to RB Ōmiya Ardija for the 2026-2027 campaign.
The Saxon club believes this new season in Japan will be a crucial step in the player’s development ahead of a future integration into their squad. Leipzig is clearly banking on the future by securing the services of one of Japanese football’s most promising young talents.
