Ghana: Carlos Queiroz resigns after elimination

Ghana has been knocked out in the round of 32 at this 2026 World Cup by Colombia (1-0). The Black Stars will not continue their journey with Carlos Queiroz at the helm.

Indeed, the Portuguese coach made his departure official the day after the Black Stars' exit, even though they had managed to reach the knockout stage by finishing among the best third-placed teams.

Having only taken charge of the Ghanaian national team a few months before the tournament, Carlos Queiroz bid farewell with a message filled with both pride and regret. "I leave this adventure with pride in what we've accomplished, but also with the healthy dissatisfaction of those who always want more," wrote Carlos Queiroz on his Instagram account.
