Ghana out of the running… who will replace the “Black Stars” against Morocco?

The cancellation of the friendly match between Morocco and Ghana, scheduled for next Sunday at the Grand Stade de Tanger, has now been confirmed.

According to the Moroccan website " Hesport ", Henry Asante Twum, communications director of the Ghana Football Association, said that the match would not take place. The official confirmed that the association had informed the Royal Moroccan Football Federation of its decision, without specifying the reasons.

Morocco began its 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a 2-0 victory over Gabon before beating Lesotho by the same scoreline.

Following the withdrawal of the “ Black Stars ”, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation ( FRMF) is now working to find a new opponent and maintain the “ Atlas Lions’ ” schedule during this international break.

Mali has therefore emerged as a serious possibility. According to Malian journalist Drissa Niono, a Morocco-Mali match could be officially confirmed within the next few hours. A Moroccan page specialising in the subject has also mentioned this possibility.

What does the future hold for Tunisia-Mali?

This possibility also raises questions about the friendly match between Tunisia and Mali scheduled for October 3 at the Radès Stadium at 18:00 GMT.

Should Morocco and Mali reach an agreement, the “ Eagles’ ” schedule could change. For now, however, no official announcement has been made regarding the cancellation of the Tunisia-Mali match.
