Ghana settle for a draw against Wales in World Cup 2026 preparations
In their first-ever meeting, Ghana and Wales played out a 1-1 draw on Tuesday night in Cardiff. Another World Cup warm-up ends without a win for the Black Stars.
In the 65th minute, Caleb Yirenkyi broke the deadlock after a brilliant team move, finding the net on his second attempt. However, Ghana’s attacking rhythm faded after the goal, with several chances squandered to kill off the match, and they conceded a heartbreaking equalizer in the 90th minute.
Preparations still winless so far
This draw extends Ghana’s disappointing run in their World Cup build-up. Prior to this clash in Cardiff, the Black Stars suffered a 2-0 defeat against Mexico on April 23. During the March 2026 camp, the team endured back-to-back losses to Austria (5-1) and Germany (2-1).
Carlos Queiroz and his men kick off their World Cup campaign on June 17 against Panama.
