Grêmio signs Jovane Cabral

Grêmio has officially announced the signing of Jovane Cabral. The 28-year-old Cape Verde international, currently a free agent, joins the Brazilian club to bolster the attacking options for coach Luís Castro.

Scheduled to arrive in Porto Alegre on July 14, Jovane Cabral will quickly join the squad to begin training. A product of Sporting CP's academy, he has also played for Olympiakos, Salernitana, and Lazio before embarking on this new adventure in Brazil.

A World Cup before heading to Brazil

The Cape Verdean is coming off a standout showing at the 2026 World Cup. He started in the goalless draw against Spain in the group stage, and also featured in the round of 16 clash with Argentina, where Cape Verde narrowly lost 3-2 after extra time.

By securing this transfer-free acquisition, Grêmio pulls off a smart move by bringing in an experienced player who can add both quality and versatility to their attack.
