Many comparisons were made between the Egyptians Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush before the Manchester City and Liverpool match on Sunday 23 February 2025 and Pep Guardiola, the Man City coach, spoke about this comparison.

Marmoush who recently joined Man City from Eintracht Frankfurt will face his compatriot Salah for the first time as rivals at the Etihad Stadium.

Guardiola’s Perspective

During the pre match press conference, Spaniard Guardiola rejected comparisons between the egyptian strikers, stressing that Marmoush must prove himself in england.

"Salah's done that for many years at the highest level, but Omar's here to prove himself. His level was unbelievable in Germany but his performances will determine his future" he continued.

Since Marmoush arrived in the EPL, he managed to score hat trick in just 14 minute against Newcastle United last week. Meanwhile, Salah continues his dominance, leading the race for the PL Golden Boot with 24 goal.

"The Times" reported that sales of Marmoush's shirts have soared, making him one of the most popular purchases alongside Haaland, De Bruyne and Foden. Manchester City's Egyptian fan base has reportedly grown by 25 % since his arrival.
