A Furry Pitch Invader in Skopje
The unusual incident unfolded at the Toše Proeski Arena in the North Macedonian capital, Skopje, during the third round of the Nations League League B group stage.
According to British outlet The Sun, the match was temporarily halted in the ninth minute, just two minutes after the visitors had opened the scoring, when a dog sprinted onto the playing surface.
North Macedonian player Sebastián Herrera attempted to intervene and usher the animal off the pitch but the canine easily evaded the player's efforts.
Television cameras captured the dog darting around the grass before voluntarily exiting the field approximately 30 seconds later, allowing the referee to resume play.
Scotland's Lighthearted Response
The unexpected pause brought a moment of levity to the competitive international fixture, prompting a humorous reaction from the visiting delegation.
The official X account of the Scottish national team provided live updates of the incident to their followers, confirming that the match was briefly paused due to the four-legged pitch invader before sarcastically adding, "He is having a lovely time".
