After months of news linking his name to several major European clubs, Tottenham finally succeeded in securing the services of Matuidi Fernandez from West Ham United.
According to reports published by David Ornstein, The Athletic journalist, Mateus Fernandes is already a Tottenham player starting next season, coming from West Ham United. The 21-year-old will join Spurs to be part of the services of Italian coach Roberto De Zerbi for next season.
Tottenham are set to complete the signing of the midfielder for a fee of around £85 million, matching the figure West Ham had demanded from the outset.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the final paperwork is currently being signed, with the transfer expected to be officially announced shortly.
The midfielder made 38 appearances for West Ham last season, scoring four goals and providing four assists. He is valued at €50 million by Transfermarkt and remains under contract with the Hammers until 2028.
Spurs have moved swiftly to secure the deal, and the player is expected to join Roberto De Zerbi’s squad as they prepare for the new season. The transfer represents a significant investment for Tottenham, who are determined to strengthen their midfield options. The move is now set to be finalised, with the player’s arrival imminent.
