According to DH Net, the 29-year-old Burkinabe goalkeeper is close to joining the Belgian vice-champions on loan from RC Lens.

After a successful year at Angers, Hervé Koffi looks set to make his return to Belgium. The Stallions' shot-stopper is being tipped to join Union Saint-Gilloise for the 2026-2027 season. With Kjell Scherpen's move to Ipswich, the Brussels club's management quickly set their sights on Koffi as their new number one.

A logical return to the Jupiler Pro League

If the transfer goes through, Koffi won’t feel out of place. He knows the Belgian league well, having played for Mouscron and then made his name at Sporting Charleroi between 2021 and 2024. There, he established himself as one of the country’s top goalkeepers, racking up at least eight clean sheets over three seasons. His experience at the top end of the table appeals to Union, who are competing in the Champions League.

A season of resurgence

Blocked by competition from Robin Risser at Lens, Koffi was loaned to Angers last season. The gamble paid off: 30 matches played, 10 clean sheets. Voted SCO’s player of the season, he was even in the running for the UNFP award. His performances also earned him the title of Best Burkinabe Player Abroad at the Étalon Or 2026 ceremony.

Champions League goal with Union

If the loan is confirmed, Koffi will step up to a new level. He’ll get his first taste of the Champions League as Union Saint-Gilloise face Bodø/Glimt in the third qualifying round of Europe’s premier club competition.
