Infantino dodges a question about FIFA

Gianni Infantino was confronted by a British journalist regarding FIFA's controversial plan to sell stakes in its commercial rights. Instead of addressing the substance of the question, the world governing body's president chose to deflect with a comment about the reporter's hairstyle.

A question about FIFA's controversial project

While in the Dominican Republic attending a youth tournament, Infantino was approached by James Matthews, a Sky News journalist. The reporter asked him directly whether he thought he had "betrayed football" with the FIFA Forward Enterprise project.

This project has drawn sharp criticism, as it would allow private investors to acquire stakes in certain FIFA commercial rights, most notably those linked to the World Cup. Infantino, however, did not answer the question. He simply complimented the journalist on his hairstyle before quipping, "See you at the barber's."

A controversy that weakens Infantino

This episode comes as the FIFA president faces growing dissent over his project. Several national federations have publicly voiced their disagreement, with some even withdrawing their support for Infantino.

This controversy could also escalate into a political problem for Infantino if more national federations challenge his strategy. The real question is whether FIFA can restore confidence in its project or if the current opposition will continue to grow.
