Infantino favorable to increasing FIFA financial aid

Gianni Infantino has expressed support for studying an increase in financial aid paid to FIFA member associations. According to The Athletic, the proposal concerns the 2027–2030 cycle and could allow each national association to receive at least $10 million.

Infantino opens the door to increased funding

FIFA could increase the amounts allocated to its member associations during the next four-year cycle. According to The Athletic, Gianni Infantino has given an initial agreement in principle to study this possibility. The aim would be to strengthen the financial resources of national associations in order to support the development of football in their respective countries.

If the proposal goes ahead, each association could receive a minimum allocation of $10 million over the 2027–2030 period. However, the initiative is still under consideration. The FIFA president’s approval does not mean that the measure has been definitively adopted.

A proposal supported by football leaders

According to the reports, UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin and CONCACAF president Victor Montagliani sent a letter proposing an increase in funding. Several options are reportedly being considered to raise the necessary funds. One of them would be to unlock part of FIFA’s financial reserves in the form of an exceptional payment.

The FIFA Council is expected to examine the proposal at its meeting scheduled for October 15. This deadline could provide more information about the terms and amounts under consideration.
