Inside the 3 European offers for Mostafa Shobeir following his 2026 World Cup heroics

Al Ahly have rejected official European bids from Italian club Como and Danish side FC Nordsjælland for goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir, according to his father and former international goalkeeper Ahmed Shobeir.

Three European offers detailed

Speaking on his radio programme on Sunday, Ahmed Shobeir revealed that three separate continental clubs approached the 26 year old shot stopper following his standout international performances.

"Mostafa has received three offers so far. Two official bids arrived at Al Ahly.. The first was from Danish club FC Nordsjælland which Al Ahly rejected immediately. The offer started at $1 million and was raised slightly" Ahmed Shobeir stated.

"The second approach came from Slavia Prague which Mostafa himself politely declined. The third offer was from Serie A side Como, valued at around $2 million. As soon as it arrived, Al Ahly rejected it outright stating that the player is not for sale"

Despite the foreign interest, the goalkeeper has reaffirmed his loyalty to the reigning African champions. Shobeir confirmed that his son directly informed Al Ahly board member Sayed Abdelhafiz that he remains fully committed to the club's plans.

World Cup heroics elevate European profile

Shobeir’s sudden emergence on European transfer radars follows his heroics at the FIFA World Cup 2026 with the Egypt national team.

The goalkeeper produced a tournament defining display on the global stage, famously saving two penalty kicks, including one from Lionel Messi, to attract international acclaim. With only one year remaining on his current contract with Al Ahly, clubs across Europe have looked to test the Cairo side's resolve before the transfer window closes.

Protecting Al Ahly’s number one asset

Al Ahly’s swift dismissal of Como’s $2 million bid illustrates Shobeir’s immense value to the squad as their established first choice goalkeeper.

However, entering the final 12 months of his contract without an extension presents a strategic risk for the Cairo hierarchy. While Shobeir’s personal commitment to the club provides short term stability, Al Ahly will need to prioritise tying him down to a long term deal to protect his market value and fend off further European suitors.

Ahmed Shobeir indicated that additional European offers could emerge in the coming days given the global spotlight on his son.

In the meantime, Al Ahly's management is expected to open formal contract extension negotiations with the goalkeeper to secure his future ahead of the 2026 /27 domestic and continental campaigns.
