Liverpool: negotiations for Yankuba Minteh at a standstill

Liverpool are ramping up their search for a winger as the transfer market nears its close, but the Yankuba Minteh deal is becoming increasingly complicated. According to Sky News, talks between Liverpool and Brighton are currently at a standstill.

The Merseyside club has already made two offers for the Gambian winger. The latest bid, reportedly worth £60 million, was rejected by Brighton. The Premier League side remains firm in their demands, holding out for £80 million to let their player go.

Liverpool, on their end, are not willing to meet that price for now. That leaves a £20 million gap between the two clubs, with the clock ticking as the transfer window closes on Tuesday.

Minteh also sidelined by injury

Adding to the financial standoff is Yankuba Minteh’s physical condition. The Brighton winger is currently out injured and is not expected to return before October at the earliest.

This unavailability could also weigh into Liverpool’s decision-making. The club now has to decide whether it’s worth investing a hefty sum in a player who won’t be immediately available.

Liverpool facing a decision

For Liverpool, the situation is now clear: either increase their offer to try to convince Brighton, or switch their focus to another target before the window slams shut.

Brighton, for their part, show no signs of budging. As long as the two sides remain so far apart, the Minteh deal stays blocked—despite the Reds’ strong interest.
