Liverpool set to submit opening bid for Bradley Barcola

Under contract until 2028, Bradley Barcola is said to have refused an extension with PSG. Liverpool are now preparing to formalize their interest.

Bradley Barcola remains a Paris Saint-Germain player, but his future is looking increasingly uncertain. According to Sky Sports, Liverpool have prepared an opening offer after several preliminary talks with his representatives. The Reds are expected to officially open discussions with the Parisian club soon.

In search of a winger since Mohamed Salah's departure, Liverpool have made the French international one of their top targets. The Reds' project appeals to the 23-year-old, who is also being tracked by Arsenal and Bayern Munich. However, no agreement exists between the two clubs yet. PSG are reportedly demanding up to €170 million, compared to the €45 million they paid to sign Barcola from Lyon in 2023.

Still inconsistent in front of goal

Since arriving in Paris, Barcola has scored 39 goals in over 150 appearances. Last season, he tallied 13 goals and five assists in 45 matches across Ligue 1 and the Champions League. His pace, movement, and ability to attack space have drawn the attention of Premier League giants such as Premier League clubs.

However, his finishing still leaves room for improvement. With 11 goals in 29 Ligue 1 matches, his domestic output is far from disastrous. But his efficiency dropped sharply in the Champions League: just two goals, only 8% of his shots converted, and ten big chances missed. These numbers highlight a real inconsistency in his finishing. At €170 million, Liverpool would be betting more on his potential, explosiveness, and room for growth than on a finishing ability already on par with Europe's elite strikers.
