Barça enters the race to sign Rodri

FC Barcelona has reportedly inquired about Rodri, whose contract with Manchester City runs until June 2027. The Spanish world champion still favors Real Madrid, but hasn't completely closed the door on the Catalan club.

FC Barcelona has entered the race for Rodri. According to Catalunya Ràdio, the Catalan board has sounded out the Manchester City midfielder’s camp to understand the conditions for a potential deal.

At this stage, no formal offer has been made. However, Barça's interest is serious, especially after Frenkie de Jong's injury. The Dutch international is suffering from a torn medial collateral ligament in his right knee and is expected to miss several weeks of competition.

Barça is looking to strengthen its midfield regardless of this absence, but De Jong’s unavailability makes the search more urgent. The competition remains fierce. Paris Saint-Germain, previously mentioned, is not expected to move forward on this deal, while Real Madrid still holds the advantage.

According to Catalunya Ràdio, Rodri dreams of joining the Madrid club. However, he could consider a proposal from Barça if a real opportunity arises. No agreement between the player and Real Madrid has been made official.

Rodri has just undergone minor back surgery. Manchester City explained that their player had been experiencing discomfort for some time and will now take a short period to recover.

This procedure shouldn’t affect his long-term future, but it could slow down an already complex deal from both sporting and financial perspectives. With a contract until 2027, Rodri also puts Manchester City in a crucial position: extend his contract, sell him this summer, or risk seeing him enter his final year under contract.
